This position is an important scientific leadership role within the Preclinical Sciences and Translational Safety organization of Janssen. The candidate will utilize Pharmacokinetic/ Pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling to drive project team decisions from early discovery through early clinical studies, as well as play a key role guiding modeling and simulation strategies throughout the organization. The candidate will also be expected to mentor and/or supervise other team members. The candidate will be a key member of discovery and early clinical development project teams across multiple therapeutic areas and will interact closely with biology, chemistry, pharmaceutical development, clinical, safety, and other project team members to help design the most appropriate preclinical and early clinical studies and the associated quantitative model-based analyses to inform candidate selection and provide dosing recommendations. Modeling approaches used may include physiologically-based pharmacokinetic modeling, mechanistic PK/PD modeling, and/or systems pharmacology modeling to help (a) predict preclinical and clinical PK profiles (b) quantify exposure/response relationships for target engagement biomarkers, efficacy, and potential adverse effects, and (c) guide in vivo and in vitro experimental designs that will be most informative for modeling. Qualifications PhD in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields is required At least 7 years of relevant industry experience is required Strong familiarity with principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and expertise in use of modeling software for PK and PK/PD analyses are required Demonstrated record of scientific accomplishments applying mathematical modeling to the discovery and/or development of therapies supported by peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations are required. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral/written communication and teamwork skills are required. This position can be based out of Spring House, PA or San Diego, CA and may require approximately 10% travel. Spring House, PA is the preferred location for this position.
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
