Responsibilities:
This position works with the Head of Clinical Development (CD) and Head, Early Development (ED), to refine the vision, mission and strategic objectives of drug development. As a member of the Development Leadership Team, contributes to Immunology Development functional organization by managing the talent strategy, operational excellence and efficiency, and drive key innovation initiatives. The VP Clinical Development, Rheumatology is accountable for the design, implementation and reporting of all Rheumatology Late-stage Phase II and III clinical trials development in Janssen's Immunology portfolio. Candidates should have the ability to adapt their therapy area knowledge and expertise to lead and advise on immuno-inflammatory indications beyond rheumatology based on the needs of the portfolio. The successful candidate will have exceptional clinical development, functional-leadership and communications skills as well as a high degree of curiosity, innovation, entrepreneurship and a keen sense of patient unmet need. Responsibilities will include:
membership in the Immunology Therapeutic Area (TA) strategy and governance bodies, accountability for program reviews in the broader Janssen R&D structure, and overall strategy and execution for all Late-stage Rheumatology clinical development programs through product licensing. This role also has substantial responsible for defining Late Stage Development approaches for licensing/Business Development activities. Lead a team of physicians who design, implement and report all late-stage phase II and III Immunology clinical trials. Overall accountability for delivery of regulatory submissions, including oversight of the preparation of clinical portions of agency licensing applications and other regulatory submissions. Collaborate with Disease Area Strongholds (DASs), Pathway Strongholds (PASs), Discovery, Clinical Pharmacology, Medical Affairs and Commercial, and Business Development to deliver all Gastroenterology late stage development matters and identify external opportunities and platforms required for next generation Immunology products. Deliver innovative, fit-for-purpose and transformational development strategies that address high unmet needs for all Rheumatology assets in late phase clinical development. This includes next-generation combination regimens to achieve transformative levels of efficacy. Develop and maintain a strong external network including credible relationships with scientific leaders, key clinical opinion leaders, and regulatory officials as needed to advance the Immunology portfolio. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education:
MD, or MD/PhD is ideal. Immunology or Rheumatology are preferred areas of expertise.
Experience:
At least 15 years of relevant experience in drug development or equivalent. Required Knowledge and skills:

Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
Minimum Qualification
Life SciencesEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
